The Center for Occupational Safety and Environmental Technology (COSENT), under Ton Duc Thang University, was established on March 10, 2009, pursuant to Decision No. 198/TĐT-QĐ. COSENT specializes in providing services in training, design consultancy, supervision, appraisal, and technology transfer in the fields of occupational safety and environmental technology.

FUNCTIONS

      1. Research fields: 

  • Conducting research and implementing applications in the field of environmental management;
  • Conducting research and implementing applications in the field of environmental technology;
  • Conducting research and implementing applications in the fields of occupational safety engineering, occupational hygiene, and occupational health.

      2. Production fields:

  • Pilot production of occupational safety equipment;
  • Environmental protection products and equipment.

     3. Science and technology services:

  • Providing consultancy on the design of environmental treatment and occupational safety systems;
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating environmental and occupational safety indicators;
  • Appraising and transferring environmental and occupational safety technologies in accordance with current legal regulations;
  • Providing consultancy on management systems and information, as well as training and capacity building in environmental management and occupational safety management.

    4. Domestic and international cooperation in the registered fields with the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City

    5. Organizing and providing short-term training courses such as:

  • Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) courses;
  • Short-term courses on Construction Safety;
  • Short-term courses on Environmental topics (Air Environmental Monitoring, Environmental Topics, etc.);
  • Short-term courses on International Standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001; …)

DUTIES AND AUTHORITIES

  1. Taking the lead in or participating in scientific research projects at the departmental and national levels; applying research findings from projects at various levels to teaching and practical life to meet the University's training requirements and COSENT's science and technology service needs.
  2. Participating in professional training and capacity building, scientific research, and the implementation and application of science and technology services in environmental protection and occupational safety.
  3. Participating in professional and industry associations in accordance with legal regulations.
  4. Coordinating with Ton Duc Thang University to provide professional training in environmental protection, water supply and drainage, and occupational safety for state-owned and private agencies and enterprises. (Certificates and certifications are issued by Ton Duc Thang University.)
  5. Identifying market needs, developing customer relationships, directly conducting transactions, and signing economic contracts with customers in accordance with current laws.
  6. Having autonomy in determining prices for research products, pilot production products, and services provided.
  7. Refusing work requests from organizations or individuals that violate the laws, regulations, rules of Ton Duc Thang University, or COSENT's charter.
  8. Being responsible for reporting COSENT's annual science and technology activities to the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City and Ton Duc Thang University.
