Academic Activity: “BIM in MEP Systems – Initial Steps in Using Machine Learning”

On October 22, 2025, within the academic seminar series for the 2025–2026 school year, the Faculty of Environment & Labour Safety (ENLABSAFE), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) held a specialist talk on “BIM in MEP Systems – Initial Use of Machine Learning.” The session was delivered by Mr. Đàm Đức Huy, Digital Lead at Construction and Management (DCMvn Co., Ltd).

In his presentation, Mr. Đàm Đức Huy discussed critical topics surrounding the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in project design, construction, and management — especially for MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems. Key points included:

  • An overview of BIM and the rationale for its adoption in modern construction projects.

  • The benefits of BIM, such as cost control, improved design quality, avoidance of technical clashes, and ensuring data consistency and transparency.

  • Regulatory requirements and procedural guidelines for implementing BIM in construction, operation, and project management.

  • Global trends in BIM adoption and real-world case studies within MEP systems.

  • Initial strategies for integrating Machine Learning with BIM, highlighting its potential to automate processes and optimize future project management.

The seminar provided valuable insights, enabling lecturers and students to better understand digital transformation trends in construction and the role of artificial intelligence in project management.
