Academic activity with the topic "Microbiological safety in water supply systems"

On September 17, 2025, the Faculty of Environment and Labour Safety organized an academic activity with the topic "Microbiological safety in water supply systems", presented by Dr. Vu Duc Canh - a lecturer of the Faculty.

The event took place enthusiastically, attracting the attention and participation of many teachers and students in the Faculty. In the presentation, Dr. Canh shared and updated a lot of important information about the role and importance of ensuring microbiological safety in water supply systems, especially in the context of the increasing need to reuse wastewater for drinking purposes - a trend that is being applied by many countries to cope with the scarcity of water resources.

The content of the sharing session focused on key issues such as: the origin and impact of pathogenic microorganisms in domestic water, challenges in microbiological safety control, current management methods, as well as new approaches in microbiological safety control in drinking water. Dr. Canh also emphasized the importance of implementing a safe water supply plan (Water Safety Plan - WSP) as an effective tool in risk management.

In addition, Dr. Canh introduced some outstanding research results of his group during his time working at the University of Tokyo (Japan), focusing on the effectiveness of treating intestinal viruses and pathogenic microorganisms in urban water supply systems - one of the major challenges to ensure safe domestic water for the community.

The session not only provided specialized knowledge linked to practice, but also created conditions for students to exchange academic knowledge openly. Many questions about new treatment technologies, their applicability to real-life conditions in Vietnam, as well as research orientations in the field of water safety were raised by students, demonstrating their interest and active learning spirit.
